Hoe het werkt

Minoxidil was een bloeddruktablet voordat iemand opmerkte wat het met haar deed. Op de hoofdhuid aangebracht verwijdt het kleine bloedvaten en het lijkt de groeifase van de follikel te verlengen. Het mechanisme is tot op heden niet volledig verklaard, wat het etiket weerspiegelt door te beschrijven waarvoor het product is in plaats van hoe het werkt.

Origineel en generiek

Verkocht als merkoplossing of schuim en als veel goedkopere huismerken van drogist en apotheek met hetzelfde percentage van dezelfde stof. Omdat het zonder recept is, is het prijsverschil hier ongewoon zichtbaar: dezelfde vijfprocentsoplossing staat in hetzelfde schap tegen twee zeer verschillende prijzen.

Wat het kost

De goedkoopste optie in de categorie en de enige zonder consultkosten, want die zijn niet nodig. Huismerken kosten doorgaans een fractie van de merkproducten.

Hoe u er legaal aan komt

Zonder recept in Nederland, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en het grootste deel van de Europese Unie. In sommige landen staat het achter de balie in plaats van in het vrije schap, wat betekent: vragen aan de apotheker, geen recept halen.
