How a consultation works
You book a video appointment with a doctor registered with the French medical council, and the consultation is a consultation: the doctor asks questions, and the outcome can be a prescription, a referral, or advice to be examined in person.
A prescription is issued electronically and dispensed by the pharmacy of your choice. As with the German service on this page, nobody in the chain profits from what is prescribed.

France is the one country in this catalogue where the state issues a formal approval for teleconsultation companies. The decree of 29 February 2024 created it, and the approval is granted by the health and social security ministers against a list of technical and organisational requirements. That makes the French question easier to answer than the German or Italian one: either a service holds the approval or it does not.
What we checked: the approval regime and its legal basis in the official gazette, linked above, and the company's entry in the national business register under SIREN 823634910. The list of approved companies is maintained by the health ministry, and Qare's approval was granted on 29 April 2024.

- It is granted to the company, not to a doctor, and it covers how the service is organised, secured and supervised. A doctor still has to be registered with the medical council independently of it.
- Is this cheaper than a normal appointment?
